King, Mary Jane (Cheatle) SARATOGA SPRINGS Mary Jane (Cheatle) King, of Elizabeth Lane, passed away Sunday morning January 13, 2008, at Ellis Hospital. She was 87. Her husband of 50 years, August F. King, predeceased her death on February 10, 1992. Born on November 24, 1920 in Erie, Pa., she is the daughter of the late Andrew and Irene (Mullaney) Cheatle of Dunkirk, N.Y. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Dunkirk and was a long standing member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. She attended Millard Fillmore School of Nursing in Buffalo, N.Y. and following her graduation, worked at Brooks Memorial Hospital until moving their family to Saratoga Springs in the late 1960s. She continued nursing and was employed at the Saratoga Springs Hospital as a nurse manager until retiring in 1982. She was an active member of St. Clement's Church as a Eucharistic minister and choir member and also volunteered for Saratoga Hospice for several years. She will be greatly missed by her family: children, Philip King and daughter-in-law, Geraldine King of Sussex, N.J., Margaret Mary Pierce and son-in-law, Robert of Jupiter, Fla., Suzanne Connolly and son-in-law, John of Scotia, N.Y. and Jeanne Morris of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She also has one surviving brother, John Cheatle of St. Petersburg, Fla. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Melissa, Tracy, Robert, Cindy, Amy, Jessica, Ian, Richard and Justin and seven great-grandchildren, Caleb, Emma, Victoria, Noah Kate, Katie, Nicholas and Austin. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue, by the Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia and the Rev. Joseph C. Tizio, pastor. A reception will immediately follow the Mass at a place to be announced. Private interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave. Memorials may be made in her name to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
