Mary Louise Barnett Hudson, 88, a recent resident of Oakmont East Nursing Center, and previously of 2303 Old Parker Road, passed gently from this life into the joyful, loving presence of her Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven on Monday evening, March 1, 2004. The widow of Ernest B. "Tut" Hudson, and daughter of the late Forrest M. and Eva Eubanks Barnett, she was the last remaining member of her immediate family. Mrs. Hudson was a nurse and retired from Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church for more than 65 years, and dearly loved her God and His Son, Jesus Christ, the Holy Word of God, her family, her home, her church, her friends, and the beauties of God's creation. Surviving are two sons, Bruce F. Hudson, and his wife, Freda Marchbanks Hudson, of Summerville, S.C., and Glen W. Hudson, of Greenville; a granddaughter, Valerie Doherty, her husband, John, and their children, John and Lindsey, of Rome, Ga.; a third great-grandchild, Ray Fiske, of Augusta, Ga.; three sisters-in-law; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Raymond E. Hudson; her cherished sister, Ruby Barnett Finley; six brothers; and two grandsons, Greg and Chuck. Funeral services will be today, March 4, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church, 871 N. 25 Bypass, Greenville 29617; with burial immediately following at the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Reedy River Baptist Church Family Life Center or the Cemetery Fund; or to the charity of one's choice. -- Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
