Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Phillips Dragon, 70, died Jan. 3, 2011, at her home. She was born in Newport, R.I., and lived in Palm City for five years, coming from New Britain, Conn. Before retirement, she was nurse-educator in New Haven, Conn., and one of the first open heart recovery room nurses at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. She graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport in 1961. She was a member of Harbour Ridge Country Club and Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Kensington, Conn. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Dr. Robert E. Dragon of Palm City; daughters, Amanda Marie Dragon Goulet of Winnetka, Calif., and Diana Phillips Dragon of Washington, D.C.; brother, Lloyd Lawrence Phillips of Rhode Island; and sister, Stephanie Anna Phillips of Boynton Beach.
