->Martin K. Tierney Saratoga Springs - Martin K. Tierney, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Saratoga Hospital, Wednesday, June 25, 2014, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He is the husband of Lynn Teras and is the son of the late Julia Waugh and Martin A. Tierney; brother of Sandra Warren; cherished father of Kevin Tierney (Julie); Brian Tierney (Marika); Sean Tierney (Katrina); Ethan Tierney; Darcy Merryman; Shawn Tierney; Bradford Tierney (Laura); Kerry Tierney and Kirsten McCarthy (James). Martin is the grandfather of twelve and great-grandfather of four and is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends. Martin graduated from Troy High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College; Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Union College. He served in the Unites States Army and the United States Coast Guard Search and Rescue. He worked in the construction industry for most of his professional career; retired from Kamtech, Inc. and continued working as a consultant for the pulp and paper industry. More recently he was employed by the Water&#x2019;s Edge/Woodlands on Saratoga Lake Homeowners Association. Martin was active in the Saratoga Recreational Soccer, Saratoga Rowing Club, Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, the Spinal Cord Injury Society and Adirondack Mountain Club for which he was a rock climbing instructor. He was an avid outdoorsman who did it all. He loved camping with his family, scuba diving, hiking, rock climbing, ice climbing, skiing, canoeing, snowshoeing, rowing, biking, spelunking&#x2026; He was known for his ingenuity and extraordinary mechanical ability to fix or build just about anything. He loved meeting new people and enjoyed a good conversation. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Monday, June 30, 2014 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs 584-5373. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Clement&#x2019;s Church, 231 Lake Ave.by the Rev. Paul J. Borowski, C.Ss.R. Burial with military honors will follow at 11am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville. Many thanks to the excellent doctors and nurses of New York Oncology & Hematology, St. Peter&#x2019;s Hospital and Saratoga Hospital.
