MANCHESTER -- Marjorie B. Black, 95, died Jan. 28, 2010, at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness. A resident of Hanover Street in Manchester for many years, she was born April 26, 1914, in Barton, Vt., to Joseph and Emily (Hatch) Goad. Prior to her retirement she had worked at several shoe shops and was a floor supervisor for Pandora Mills. She was a member of First Congregational Church and held membership in the Women's Union. Following her retirement she volunteered for several organizations including the city library and Easter Seals. Devoted to her family, she was cherished by her husband, daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed. IN HER LIFE: Her family extends their gratitude to the employees of Hanover Hill Healthcare Center for the excellent care Marjorie received. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Black of Manchester; a daughter, Elaine (Sawyer) Townsend of Charles Town, W.Va.; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Wanda Townsend. SERVICES: Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. in McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St., corner of Hanover Street, Manchester. A funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Stephen Washburn, Interim Senior Pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate.
