Ladd, Marguerite GUILDERLAND Marguerite "Maggi" Ladd of Guilderland, The Landing in Queensbury for three years, and recently Westmount Health Facility for four and a half years where she passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 with her family at her side. Born November 19, 1922 in Coopers-town, Marguerite was the only child of Mary (Connell) and Arthur Meechan. Maggi and Herb, fellow classmates and high school sweethearts, married May 26, 1945 and together raised four children. At age 28, Maggi was credited with saving the life of a baby (William Comstock) in New Lebanon. She entered a burning house by ladder and rescued the child from the fire. At age 42, Maggi began working as a customer service rep. for Matthew Bender Publishing Co. where she worked until retiring All her life Maggi had a great love of horses that she passed on to her children. She competed for years in horse shows, gymkanas and she also barrel raced at Painted Pony Ranch. Until age 82, Maggi belonged to a bowling league, a pinochle group, and golfed constantly with the Happy Hackers. At age 74, she had a "Hole In One" at Whispering Pines. Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Herbert, in 1997, and her sister-in-law and best friend, Avis Ladd Reehl. She was the beloved and treasured mom of Jeanie Cavanagh (James), Henry, Thomas (Ann) and Robert (Kathy Canfield). She was "Gram" to her three grandchildren, Heather, Crystal and Joshua (Danica Clement). She was a special aunt to Lesa Reehl Spath and Kevin Reehl. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday, February 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer, and 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be celebrated. Friends may call on the family Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday prior to the funeral from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
