SINGER Louise, 92, of Wayne died peacefully at home on September 4, 2008, with her two daughters, Sondra Singer Beaulieu and Betty Singer, at her side. She traveled widely but was proud to have lived her entire life in New Jersey. Born in Jersey City, she moved to Wood-Ridge in 1947 and then to Wayne in 1961.She held degrees from Jersey City Normal School (now New Jersey City University) and New York University. She was a life member and served until her death on the Board of Directors of the Lock Museum of America in Terryville, Connecticut.Louise was a pioneer in distance education and was education director and co-owner of Technical Home Studies Schools, a division of Singer Communications Corp.She became a member of the PTA in 1947 and was active on the local, county, and state levels. She was past president of the Wood-Ridge PTA and the Anthony Wayne Junior High School PTA in Wayne,In 1963, Louise joined Zonta International, an organization founded to advance the status of women worldwide. She was past president of the Zonta Club of Paterson (now Greater Wayne) and participated in many international conferences.She held life memberships in the National Council of Jewish Women and Jewish Women International and was a member of Shomrei Torah, the Wayne Conservative Congregation.In addition to her two daughters, Louise is survived by her older sister.
