TAYLOR, Lawrence Park,86, of Montgomery, diedat home on August 8, 2009at 4:30 a.m. following an extended illness. Funeral servicewill be held on Wednesday,August 12, 2009 at 2:00 pmwith Dr. R. Lawson Bryan andDr. Lester Spencer officiating.Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The familywill receive friends from 1:00p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at LeakMemory Chapel before thefuneral service. He is survivedby his wife Macy Folmar Taylor, his cousins Dr. John M.Ashurst (Jean, Jay Ashurst,Jeff Ashurst (Cheryl) of Montgomery and Jerry Ashurst ofBirmingham. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Ruth Barnes andhis father Lawrence Taylor.Lawrence graduated fromLanier High School in 1941where he enjoyed playing inthe band. Following graduation he enlisted in the AirForce in WWII and served 3years.Following his enlistment, he returned to Montgomery and worked at various jobs, with Real Estate Finance Company and thenwith Dept. of Industrial Relations, State of Alabama. Heretired in 1983. Lawrence wasan admirable, gentle andgenerous man who loved hisfamily and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed working inhis yard-transforming it into amuch-enjoyed garden. Healso enjoyed music, playingthe organ, discussing classiccars and loved dogs of allbreeds.
