ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. - Julia "Judy" King, 68, died Jan. 15, 2010. She was born Sept. 22, 1941, in Johnson City, the daughter of Steve and Julia (Buchel) Mares. She married Jim King in Binghamton Sept. 30, 1961.They owned and operated Kingvue Holsteins dairy farm in Jordanville for almost 20 years. Mrs. King was active as a Junior OHM Holstein Club advisor, a member of the Farm Bureau and the Milk Promotion Board, a 4H leader and contributed to other organizations. In St. Johnsville, she was owner/operator of Judy King Insurance Co. and a member of the Rotary and Chamber of Commerce. She was named Rotarian of the Year for 2009.She also served as an officer of the Owen D. Young Central School Board. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, sewing, gardening and dairy agriculture.Survivors include her husband; a son, Michael of Fort Plain; four daughters, Christine Nellis of Fort Plain, Doreen DeGroff of Oswego, Andrea Winslow of Pittsford, Vt., and Julie Bushart of Albany; a brother, Eugene Mares of Washington; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls.The religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stone Arabia.Burial will be at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.
