Joseph J. Donnelly, 93, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012. Friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West in Cranford, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Church, Cranford. Interment will be in in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, N.J. Born in Bayonne, N.J. and raised in Roselle, N.J., Joseph lived in Cranford, N.J., for over 60 years. A sheet metal worker, Mr. Donnelly was a lifetime member of SMW Local 22 in Cranford. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy. Mr. Donnelly was a life member and chaplain of Captain Newell Rodney Fiske VFW Post 335 of Cranford, a member of the Cranford Senior Citizens Thursday Club, and a communicant at St. Michael's Church. He served as the grand marshal of the Cranford Memorial Day Parade in 2005. Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Ann (Pollard) Donnelly; four loving daughters, Clare LaMorte (Wayne), Patricia Handelman, Mary Routhier (Lawrence) and Jane Donnelly (William King); five devoted grandchildren, Michael LaMorte (Trisha), Elizabeth LaMorte, Emily and Thomas Routhier, and Sarah Simpson (Kevin), and two beloved great-grandchildren, Jonah Simpson and Kylee Doepke.
