Avis de décès de Joseph Donnelly

DONNELLY Joseph Donnelly, age 80, of Trumbull, died on Friday, August 22, 2003, at Bridgeport Health Care. Mr. Donnelly was born in Stamford and was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a graduate of St. John's Preparatory High School. He attended Villanova University, then enlisted in the Navy, where he was sent to Harvard University for midshipman school. A World War II Navy lieutenant, he served in the Pacific. He was commissioned as paymaster at Farragut Naval Training Center in Idaho, and attended Naval Air Station in Astoria, Ore. He was an officer on provisioning ships in the Pacific, including "Battleship X" and was a supply officer at Cocasola Naval Air Station in Panama. He returned to Connecticut in 1950 and retired from the Bridgeport Brass Co. after more than 30 years of service. He was a literacy volunteer in Trumbull for many years. Mr. Donnelly was predeceased by his wife, Jean K. Dunleavey Donnelly. Survivors include his daughter, Ellen D. Cox and her husband, Timothy; five grandsons, Timothy, Joseph, John, Daniel and Thomas Cox, all of Stratford; his brother, James F. Donnelly and his wife, Jane, of Maryland; and his niece, Mary Donnelly. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, and at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Church. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
