WITH FLAGVENICE, Fla. -- John U. Damon, 82, a Venice resident and formerly of Chelmsford, who was an retired industrial engineer and was a World War II veteran, died Thursday, Dec. 1, at a local hospital. He was the husband of Priscilla Damon.He was born in Lowell, Nov. 6, 1923, and graduated from Lowell Technological Institute now University of Massachusetts Lowell. He resided in Venice for the past 18 years. Previously, he lived in Chelmsford.Mr. Damon served in the Army during World War II.Mr. Damon was an industrial engineer with the U.S. Air Force and Raytheon Co.He was a member of the National Alliance for Right to Education and Equity (NAFRE) and Sunshine Strings in Venice.Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Pamela Truax of Sarasota and Martha O'Neill of Reno, Nev.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Damon of Bedford, N.H.
