LEOMINSTER -- John D. Teixeira, 73, of 136 Willow St., died Tuesday, Dec. 27, in HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Worcester, on May 13, 1932, the son of Antonio G. and Rose Mildred (Gunn) Teixeira and had lived in Leominster for many years. He attended the former Commerce High School in Worcester and was a Korean War U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Teixeira was a long time member of the Laborer’s Union Local #243, before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leominster and was a former member of the Odd Fellows in Leominster. He loved planting flowers and working in his backyard. He was an avid sports fan. His many grandchildren were the center of his life and he loved spending time with them. Mr. Teixeira is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanne A. (Chester) Teixeira; four children, Dee Teixeira of Los Angeles, Calif., Kevin P. Teixeira and Paula J. Teixeira, both of Leominster, and Hilary Forgues of Fitchburg; a brother, Lawrence Teixeira of Worcester; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Teixeira, Lauren Teixeira, Serina Teixeira, Krysta Teixeira, Brittney Teixeira, Ashley Teixeira, Marcus Teixeira, Mandy Valiton, Richard Spence, Jr. and George Lewis. He was predeceased by a son, Steven G. Teixeira, on Dec. 23, 1990. TEIXEIRA -- On Dec. 27, John D. Teixeira, 73, of Leominster. A funeral service will held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours are Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
