SHANAHAN John James III, 48, of Old Tappan, NJ, passed away peacefully at home, entering the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. He was born in Teaneck, NJ to John and Kathleen (nee Costello) on July 9, 1965. He was a graduate of St. Cecelia's High School in Englewood. John was an auto mechanic for 10 years at the the family owned and operated Washington Garage in Bergenfield. He also was a bell man at the Park Meridian Hotel in Manhattan and a salesman for Paramus Chevrolet. John was fond of history, especially about the Revolutionary War and the Knights Templar. He is survived by his parents, John and Kathleen C.; his brothers Timothy and his wife Michele, Brian and his wife Barbra and Brendan; and his three nephews and a niece. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or Boystown (www.boystown.org).
