Avis de décès de John J. Fahey


John J. Fahey, 91, of Franklin, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of Rita M. (Armstrong) Fahey for 61 years. Born in East Boston on Sept. 30, 1918, he was a son of the late John J. and Sarah (Dunne) Fahey. Mr. Fahey was a resident of Franklin for the past 18 years. He formerly resided in Medway and was a graduate of Medway High School. Mr. Fahey proudly served in Army during World War II in the 236th Signal Service Battalion. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Fahey worked at N.E. Telephone Co. for 32 years retiring in 1982. He was active in local politics, having served on the Medway Planning Board and was a member of the Democratic Town Committee. He was a veracious reader and especially loved history and the Civil War. He loved summering in West Harwich on Cape Cod and was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan. Besides his wife, he is survived by; three sons, Michael Fahey and his wife Mary of Uxbridge, William J. Fahey and his wife Dawn of Charlton and John P. "Jack" Fahey and his wife Linda of Irvine, CA. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late James Fahey, Josephine Peterson, Helen Glennon, Margaret Curley and Marie Fahey. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, Aug. 27, from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com), at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, 151 Village St. in Medway, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Medway.
