John Bannister Gibson Babcock of Windsor John Bannister Gibson Babcock, 86, of Windsor, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2010, at home. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Evelyn Babcock; his loving and wonderful wife, Barbara, in 1971; and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his son, Joe; his daughter, Juli; his son, John; and his grandson, Shaun, in Taiwan; and a special friend, Bev Lane, who always kept in touch with him. John was a retired Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Air Force, a veteran of World War II, and the Korean War, giving 44 years of service to his country. His love for military service was profound. John also taught math at Chenango Valley High School for 25 years. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends as well as the five little Shi-Tzu dogs he loved and cared for so much. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, with Rev. Dr. Stephen W. Starzer officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
