Jimmie Lee Nix White, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Jan. 7, 2007. She is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral will be today, Jan. 9, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church with burial following in Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg. Jimmie was born in Russellville, Ala., on Aug. 4, 1931, to Bruce and Elsie Nix. She later moved to Decatur graduating from high school and starting employment with General Motors Acceptance Corp. in 1950. There she met her future husband, Elbert J. White. They married on June 7, 1953. In 1964, the family moved to Birmingham and in 1967 on to Hattiesburg, which became her home. When her children became older, she embarked on a 30 year career with Conva Rest/Uni Care RX Inc. in Hattiesburg. Jimmie worked in the pharmacy and was well-known and loved by the staff, customers and patients she cared for over the years. Jimmie never met a stranger and always put others before herself. This was one of her great attributes. She was active in her church, Parkway Heights United Methodist Church, and visiting shut-ins was her ministry. She was a diabetic for over 46 years, but worked until her recent brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Martha Jo Nix. Survivors include her beloved husband of 53 years, Elbert J. White; one daughter, Linda White Brunt and husband, Billy, of Madison; one son, Jeff White and wife, Charlotte, of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren, Jordan Brunt of Madison, and Anna Claire White and Charles White, both of Hattiesburg; and one brother, George T. Nix of Sydney, Australia. Memorials may be made to Parkway Heights United Methodist Church, 2420 Hardy Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39401. Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg is in charge of arrangements.
