Jerry Lee Thomas, age 46, of Lula went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his residence following a brief illness. Born in Hall County on Aug. 29, 1961, he was the son of the late Rev. J. Hudson Thomas. Mr. Thomas was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed playing golf and spending quality time with family and friends. Mr. Thomas was employed for 19 years with Jim Hardman Pontiac GMC, where he was the service manager. In addition to his father he also was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Ola Worley and the Rev. J.C. and Lillie Bell Saxon Thomas; and uncle, Morgan Worley. Surviving are his mother, Louise Worley Thomas of Lula; loving caretaker, friend and fiancee, Tori H. Freeman of Murrayville; fiancee's daughter, Amberly Freeman of Gainesville; fiancee's daughter and son-in-law, Roger and Ashley Pearson of Lula; brother, Gary Thomas of Helen; aunts and uncles, Ruth and Bascom Echols of Lula, Ronnie and Mildred Loggins of Lula, the Rev. Cecil and Lou Thomas of Alto, Ricky and Evatt Thomas of Alto, and Larry and Susan Thomas of Lula; and special cousins, Vickie and Jeff Roper of Gainesville. He is also survived by special dog, Noel, whom he loved with a passion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at Belton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Cecil Thomas and the Rev. Shane WeHunt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the Rev. Robert Nix officiating. Those serving as pallbearers include David Kendrix, Ricky Thomas, Joe Thomas, Eric Thomas, Ben Benton, Alan Wiechert, Jeffery Raper and Gordon Worley. Fellow employees from Jim Hardman Pontiac GMC are invited to attend the service and will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The family is at the residence.
