Jean L. Wheeler 1935 - 2013 EAST LONGMEADOW - Jean L. (Rowland) Wheeler, 77, of East Long-meadow, passed away at home on Wednesday February 27, 2013. Born and raised in East Longmeadow to the late Thomas and Hazel (Goodrich) Rowland, she was the youngest, having three older brothers, Jim, Bill and Bob. In her early years, Jean worked in the Assessor's Office for the Town of East Longmeadow and Longueil Transportation. She later worked with Springfield Transit Management, from where she retired, and most recently at Satco Transportation in Holyoke. Over the years, Jean enjoyed camping in Vermont and Cape Cod and especially enjoyed the beaches in Cape Cod and Hampton Beach. She had a passion for maintaining her yard and flower gardens, and enjoyed her koi pond and many pets through her life. Jean loved her family and will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Corl of East Longmeadow; her son, Scott Wheeler and his wife Christina of Stafford Springs, CT; three grandchildren, Angelique, Taylor and Mackenzie; her former husband, Bruce Wheeler; her friend, Denise LaBonte and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hours on Monday March 4th from 4 - 7 PM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Jean's Funeral Home Ceremony will be held on Tuesday March 5th at 10 AM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, followed by burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, East Longmeadow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's memory to the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center - Lahey Clinic, Attn: Hematology/Oncology Units, 41 Mall Rd., Burlington, MA 01805.
