CLARK, Janet Marlene October 25, 1951 – Winnipeg, ManitobaMay 1, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta Janet beloved wife of Andrew Scott Burgess of Calgary, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the age of 63 years. Janet was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in Emerson where her parents operated the local general store for a number of years. After high school she attended Mayville State College in Mayville, North Dakota. Returning to Winnipeg in 1977 she met her husband Drew and accompanied him to Calgary in 1979 when he was transferred by his employer. Janet worked at the Calgary Public Library for 34 years firstly at Main Branch and later at the Saddletown Branch. During these years, Janet made many long lasting and dear friendships. She enjoyed travelling with her sister and her family on their many road trips from coast to coast in Canada and through the United States. Janet also enjoyed her many traveling adventures with her friend, Diane, especially to Austria in 2005. After purchasing a home in Calgary bordering Fish Creek Park she enjoyed walking in the park and became a very proficient bird spotter. She also enjoyed hiking in the Rockies. Janet had a particular expertise for style and was often asked by friends to help them buy clothes or plan and decorate their homes. Janet will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature. She was most happy when she was helping people. She liked watching football, especially Canadian football and the Stampeders, and professional golf. Janet is survived by her husband Drew; sister Lorraine Reinfort and her husband Ernie; sister-in-law Dr. Ellen Burgess; Aunt Linda Rodewald; nieces Breanne and Christine (Sean), niece Kate Larking (Tonya) and nephew Ian Burgess; grandnephew Landon; her friend of many years Diane Wirringer and her daughter Janna; and many dear cousins and special friends. Janet was predeceased by her father Bruce Price in 1984 and her mother Noreen Price in 2009. A special thanks to Brittany George for her gentle care while Janet was at home. Thank you to the staff at the Southwood Care Centre Hospice for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Janet's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E. Calgary, AB) on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Janet's name to a charity of your choice. In living memory of Janet Clark, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
