JAMES "JAY" N. GALLAGHER WHITING, IN James "Jay" N. Gallagher, age 67, U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran of the Vietnam War, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Beloved husband for 10 years to Cathy E. Turner-Gallagher; loving father of James R. (Becky) Gallagher, Wendy (Fabian) Valdez, Robert (Jennifer) Gallagher and Rebecca Gallagher; step-father of Floyd Turner, James Turner, Mark (Debbie) Turner and Dawn (Richard) Sylwestrowicz; cherished son of Marian and the late James F. Gallagher; devoted brother of Jennifer (Charles) Lawrence, the late Richard Gallagher and the late Michael (Kathy) Gallagher; proud grandfather of 14; dearest great- grandfather of 10; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; and loyal friend to his dog, Tichi. Jay was a member of the Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion, VFW, and DAV, all in Oregon and Am-Vets in Whiting. Jay liked to be handy around the house, was very computer savvy, and loved to cook. Family and Friends are invited to meet on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at OWENS-RUZICH FUNERAL HOME, 816 - 119th St., corner of (Rt. 41) Calumet Ave. at 119th St., Whiting. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Funeral Service Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 9:00 AM from OWENS- RUZICH FUNERAL HOME to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM.
