James Connor McMahon 1948 - 2013 VALLEY FALLS James Connor McMahon, 65, a former resident of Valley Falls, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Canandaigua, N.Y., as a result of complications from cancer following a long illness. Born in Troy, N.Y., on Dec. 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Harold J. McMahon and Florence (Herlihy) McMahon. James was a graduate of Hoosic Valley Central School where he played on the varsity basketball team. He graduated from LeMoyne College in Syracuse in 1970. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy as an ensign in the submarine service. James was an accountant and prepared federal tax returns for H & R Block and other places. He contracted a mental illness and was hospitalized and later spent 30+ years at Bickford House, Main Street, Macedon, N.Y. James is survived by a brother, David McMahon of Lawrence, N.J.,; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and James Meskun of Shaftsbury, Vt., and by a niece and two nephews, four great-nephews and a great-niece. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Funeral Mass will be held from Transfiguration Church (formally St. John's) in Schaghticoke, N.Y., at a time to be announced in the spring. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. John's Cemetery in Schaghticoke at that time. Should friends desire, contributions in James C.
