Jack E. Williams, of Hingham, succumbed to his long battle with Alzheimer's Disease on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012. He was 85. A native of Toronto, Canada, he married his wife of 50 years, Thelma Annie (Marshall) Williams in 1949 who predeceased him in 2000. Jack moved his family to the United States in 1960 to live in Chicago, IL where he was the National Sales Manager with Union Twist Drill Co. In 1965 he was transferred to Merriman, Inc. in Hingham, a division of UTD and over the years became president, group executive and board member. After his retirement, he and his wife Thelma enjoyed their winter home in Boynton Beach, FL. where Jack was active in the management of Quail Ridge becoming president of the association. He was the father of Heather Coan of Stow, MA, John Williams of Plymouth and Robert Williams of Charlotte, NC.; brother of Jean Golding of Toronto; grandfather of, Thomas, John, David and Tyler Williams and Jamie and Allison Coan. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Saturday from 4 - 7 p.m. The funeral service and interment are to be private.
