John Richard Howell, a resident of South Nyack, NY died Sunday October 6, 2002 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. He was 80. Mr. Howell worked as a service manager for McKenzie Motors in the Bronx before retiring in 1987. Mr. Howell was born February 11, 1922 in Syracuse, NY to Richard J. and Violet Huff Howell. Mr. Howell served in the US Army AirCorp from 1942-1945 during WWII. He belonged to the VFW Piermont Post 7462. Mr. Howell lived in South Nyack for the past 17 years. Before that, he live in Pearl River for 17 years. He is survived by his wife Ruth R. Howell, two daughters Jonnie Ruth Spitler of Lutz, FL, Carolyn Sharples of Nanuet, sisters Mary Dorschel of Mattydale, NY, DorothyWojdyla of Lynchburg, VA, Beverly Hardy of Liverpool, NY, and grandchildren Jessica Spitler, Kimberly Yablonski, Stuart and John Sharples and Roberta Mighton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Margaret's RC Church, Pearl River, NY. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Visiting will be Tuesday and Wednesday 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
