Jean A. (nee: Shires) Waite, 80, of Glenville, passed away at Glendale Home, where she had been a resident, on Saturday, September 11, 2010, after a long illness. Born in Schenectady on February 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mae (nee: Aussicker) Shires. She was raised and educated in Schenectady and was a lifelong area resident. She formerly attended St. George's Episcopal Church in Schenectady and later St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Scotia. Jean devoted her life to raising her family and worked for many years for the family accounting business. For over 10 years she was employed by Waste Management in Amsterdam. Jean enjoyed gardening and caring for horses. In 1984, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Richard Waite. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Edward; and two sisters, Marion and Sarah. She is survived by her children, Robert (Aurelia) Waite of Amsterdam, Diane (Timothy) Meyers of Schenectady, and David Waite of Ballston Lake; ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
