TUSCALOOSA J. Richard “Dick” Norton, age 82, of Tuscaloosa, died July 23, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benjamin Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Mark and Lucy Shirley Norton; his brother, Harold Norton; and his wife, Hilda Musick Norton.Survivors include his sister, Margaret Norton Clary (Carl); his stepdaughter, Judy Musick; his niece, Sherry Clary (St. Pete); his nephew, Carl A. Clary; and his great-niece, Christine White (Nathan).Richard was born February 10, 1928, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a graduate of The University of Alabama. He worked as a CPA until retirement. He then became the owner of Nick's in the Sticks and Nick's Downtown. He was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church and the Civitan Club.Pallbearers will be deacons of Emanuel Baptist Church.Honorary pallbearers are members of Emanuel Baptist Church, staff of Regency Retirement Village, and all his former coworkers and friends.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Emanuel Baptist Church or one's favorite charity.Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetbrown-funeral.com.
