Dempsey, Henry "Stan" MALTA Henry Stanton "Burl" Dempsey, 72, died suddenly on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Saratoga Hospital after being stricken at his home. Born in Troy on January 26, 1942, he was the son of the late Henry Stanton and June W. Hamilton Dempsey, Sr. Stan was raised in Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School. He was employed briefly by St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands and Pepsi Bottling Company. He later worked for the D&H Railway for 20 years and then Gorman Bros. Asphalt & Paving at the Port of Albany for over 20 years as a heavy equipment operator before retiring in 2004. Stan was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to shoot skete. He also loved to eat and was a member of the Hendrick Hudson Rod & Gun Club and a proud member of the NRA. He is the beloved father of Henry Stanton Dempsey, III (Heather S. Gallo) of Fulton, and Joseph F. (Sheila) Dempsey of Brunswick and the late Susan Bub; father-in-law of Michael Bub of Waterford; proud grandfather of Michael (Tracey) Bub Jr., David (Sara) Bub and Paul Bub, Rachel and Kyle Dempsey and Sean Dempsey; great-grandfather of Michael, Hailey, David and Julia; brother of Lewis Michael (Christine) Dempsey of Saratoga Springs and Isabel "Cissy" Hegel Dempsey of Troy; longtime companion of Julia "Joanie" Engel of Malta. Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 4-6:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert Peters officiating. The family will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m. to proceed to the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands for the committal service and interment.
