Waterford - "Miss Helen" Helen Jean (Baborsky) Stack, 80, of Quaker Hill, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, of pancreatic cancer, she was surrounded by her family.She was born on Sept. 3, 1932, in New London, the daughter of Charles H. Baborsky and Marjorie O'Donnell-Baborsky. She married Ted Stack on June 14, 1952, in New london. He predeceased her.Though they shared different interests, their strong common values, compassionate guidance and tough love, hallmarks of the "greatest generation", enabled them to forge a marriage of almost 50 years and to pass those values on to future generations.Helen adored her family and loved dance, exercising and traveling. Her introduction to dance began at an early age at Latham's School of Dance, but her life-long love of dance was kindled when she began training from a Russian emigre at the Froman's School of Dance. Marguerite Froman had been a prima ballerina at the Bolshoi ballet. Helen both took and taught dance for many years at the Dance Extension in Waterford. She remained actively teaching until several weeks prior to her death. Over the years Helen shared her love of dance with generations of young women.Helen worked locally at several businesses but spent the majority of her working life at the Neurological Group in New london.She leaves behind a son, Ted Stack and daughter-in-law, Barbara; and two wonderful grandaughters, Olivia Hope and Gabrielle Faith. In addition, she leaves behind a sister, Carol Holway and her husband, David; two brothers, William Baborsk and his wife, Lydia, of Bozrah, and Robert Baborsky of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews.Family and friends are asked to gather at 3 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, for a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 63 Old Norwich Road, Quaker Hill. Interment services are private.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Center for Hospice Care Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, has been entrusted with arrangements.
