PARK Harold Passed away on July 9, 2009 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Solange, in 2004 and his only brother, John, in 1999. He is survived by two sons, Norb (Lana) in Calgary and Jerry (Ida) in Quesnel; also four grandchildren in Calgary, Marty, Jay, Tyler (Dawn) and Tiffany (Ralph); one niece Lori Larson in Kelowna, one nephew Herb (Annette) in Woodridge, MB and a nephew's widow, Betty, in Calgary. Also a caring niece on Solange's side of the family, Marg Morrow (Mike) in North Vancouver. Harold was born in Edmonton on March 30, 1919 and as an infant moved to Radway, AB. He attended school there and graduated from the Edmonton Normal School in 1938. After teaching for three years he married Solange Perrier in 1941. He spent four years in the R.C.A.F., completing a tour of operations as a coastal command navigator. He was a graduate in commerce from the University of Alberta and a chartered accountant. His working career was spent with Revenue Canada Taxation, serving in Edmonton, Belleville, Ottawa, Toronto, retiring as the director of the Vancouver district office in 1982. Prompted somewhat by his pet aversion, gardening, he and Solange moved to Kelowna in 1989 to the condominium complex, Sandstone. Here arose an opportunity to do things for others through his fondness for woodworking, where he became known as one of the Mr. Fix-its. Here also was an ideal location to display his rich sense of humor through hobbies that he always enjoyed, writing skits, poems, parodies and telling jokes for appropriate occasions. He took an active part in most activities and was always seen to be busy. He enjoyed playing golf and was, in Solange's words, a sport nut. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 14th at 12:30 pm at the Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC with The Right Rev. REF Fraser Berry officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1633 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y P6.
