Grace Elizabeth LawrenceWith great sadness, the family bid farewell to Grace Elizabeth Lawrence on her passing on Sunday, September 30th, 2012. As a mother, grandmother, nurse, army wife, farm wife and good friend, she was a model of compassion, integrity and honour. Born in 1921 to Ruby and Elmer Adams, Grace grew up in Major, Saskatchewan, took her nursing education at Saskatoon City Hospital, married Guy Lawrence in 1944 and joined the ranks as a military career wife. She was a veteran of many moves from Vancouver to New Brunswick, Churchill to Michigan, with England and Ottawa in between, then to Prince Albert and the farm near Colonsay; most recently living at the Franklin in Saskatoon. Survived by sons: Murray of Hamilton, Steve (Lillis) of Prince Albert, and Jeff (Monica) of Regina; granddaughters: Jennifer (Lauren), Melissa (Brian), Stephanie and Anita and two great-grandchildren Marissa and Nolan of Prince George; sister: Irene Quigley, sisters-in law Dorothy, Alice and Jean, and many nieces and nephews of the Lawrence and Adams clans. Predeceased by husband Guy, son Randy and great-grandson Owen. Mom loved to have company; she was a gracious host, avid card player and social quilter. She supported United Church Women, Red Cross and many Colonsay community events. Mom will be fondly remembered for keeping in touch. The family wish to thank The Franklin along with St Paul's and Royal University Hospitals. Please reserve any remembrances for the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Third Avenue United Church in Saskatoon. A Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at the chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home. Condolences may be emailed to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com Arrangements are entrusted to the SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME, 244-5577.
