Gertrude Margaret Dawson, 95, a longtime resident of Ormond Beach, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 in Traverse City, Mich. She had been living with her daughter for the past 16 months. She is survived by a sister, Ruth Sherwood, Newaygo, Mich.; daughters, Margaret Hug, Port Orange, Charlotte Shea, Traverse City, Mich.; son, Rick Dawson (Joyce), Ormond Beach, nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter. Mrs. Dawson was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Ormond Beach where she had been active in the Women's Association and a longtime Sanctuary Choir member. She was known as a fine cook and avid bridge player. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m Saturday, March 1, at Christ Presbyterian Church, 1035 West Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach. The family requests donations to the Music Ministry at Christ Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.
