Malcolm, George Sawyer, 85, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away on March 23, 2009. Born in Deadwood, SD on April 23, 1923. During WWII, George served as a B17 navigator, flew 16 missions and endured 14 months as a POW. A graduate of the U of Colorado and Thunderbird School, he worked as a banker and businessman in the Caribbean where he met and married Julia Hernandez and raised 5 children. He moved to Florida in 1972 and enjoyed golf, reading, family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julia; 5 children: Doug (Cindy), Jack (Lisa), Virginia Fady (Rob), Julia Palmer (Gary), and Georgia Cantrell (Paul); and 14 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have memorial donations made to the Respect Life office at 2907 North Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale in George Malcolm's name. We thank you for your loving support. A memorial service will be held Friday, 12pm, March 27th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 4595 Bayview Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 954-771-8950.
