DEAN, George Philip "Phip" DEAN, George Philip "Phip" - 86, Upper Musquodoboit, passed away at home on February 24, 2008. Born in Newton Mills, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Fleming) Dean. He was a farmer and woods worker all of his working life. His greatest enjoyment came from fiddle music and being around his horses. Surviving are his wife, the former Hilda Hutchinson; son, Ben (Heather), Cole Harbour; daughters, Kay Dean, Aylesford; Pat MacKay, Lower Sackville; brothers, Paul, Murray, David, George "Bud" (Betty) Graham; sisters, Roxie Bezanson, MaryLou Horne; sister-in-law, Joyce Dean; brother-in-law, Everett Dean; grandchildren, Amanda, Shawn Dean, Karen, Nancy, Dan MacKay. He was predeceased by sons, Warren, Francis; son-in-law, Art MacKay; brother, Don; sisters, Joan Hamilton, Loretta Dean. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today with funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, both in St. James United Church, Upper Musquodoboit, Rev. Gary Burrill officiating. Burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or St. James United Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Co-operative, Upper Musquodoboit.
