Avis de décès de George-E. Larsen

->George E. Larsen, of 7714 County Road 153, Interlaken, passed away at home on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at the age of 79. Born in Floral Park, New York on November 23, 1930, George was the son of Aage E. and Ebba (Jensen) Larsen. When he was 4, George and his family moved back to Norway where he grew up on Boroy (one of Norway's southern coastal islands) and in Tvedestrand. George graduated from high school in Norway in l949 and returned to the US. He served in the US Army (1951-1953) during the Korean War, receiving an Honorable Discharge as Cpl. He married Patricia A. Bowman in 1956. George and Pat made their first home in Plainview, NY where he served as a Captain in the Plainview Volunteer Fire Dept. In 1967, he graduated from SUNY Oswego, Summa Cum Laude, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education (and later a Master's). In that same year, the Larsens moved to Trumansburg when George accepted a position as an Industrial Arts Teacher at DeWitt Middle School in Ithaca. George enjoyed his years as a teacher, sharing knowledge and encouraging his students in the pursuit of their best efforts. He embraced the world as an opportunity to learn from others and also to share his thoughts and skills. The depth and diversity of his interests made him, by all accounts, a Renaissance Man. In 2002, George and Pat moved to their home in Sheldrake where they created more fond memories together. George will continue to live through these cherished memories in the hearts of those who loved him. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his grandson, Samuel T. Collins on October 12, 2005. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia; son, George E. Larsen, Jr; daughters, Linda Larsen Babcock, Lisa Larsen (Michael) Collins, and Leslie A. Larsen; brothers, Aage I. Larsen and Roy W. Larsen; sister, Eva Larsen Bishop; grandchildren, Meredith A. Collins, Erik T. Babcock, and Julia E. Babcock and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with George's wishes, no public services will be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who wish to make a contribution in George's memory to kindly consider the ;(function() { var adKeyValue = 't='; adKeyValue+= escape('clio=ACS'); adKeyValue += escape('&cobrand=theithacajournal'); adKeyValue += escape('&linktext=American Cancer Society'); adKeyValue += escape('&linkurl=https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/donateonlinenow/Legacy/index?dn=mem&fn=George&ln=Larsen'); adKeyValue += escape('&fn=George'); adKeyValue += escape('&ln=Larsen'); var adClkUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/jump?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=414938654'; var adImpUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ad?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=414938654'; document.write("<a href='" + adClkUrl + "' target=_blank>American Cancer Society<" + 'img' + " src='" + adImpUrl + "' style='width=1px; height=1px; display:inline;' /></a>"); }()); ;(function() { var adKeyValue = 't='; adKeyValue+= escape('clio=ACS'); adKeyValue += escape('&cobrand=theithacajournal'); adKeyValue += escape('&linktext=Hope Lodge'); adKeyValue += escape('&linkurl=https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/donateonlinenow/Legacy/index?dn=mem&fn=George&ln=Larsen'); adKeyValue += escape('&fn=George'); adKeyValue += escape('&ln=Larsen'); var adClkUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/jump?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=414938654'; var adImpUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ad?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=414938654'; document.write("<a href='" + adClkUrl + "' target=_blank>Hope Lodge<" + 'img' + " src='" + adImpUrl + "' style='width=1px; height=1px; display:inline;' /></a>"); }());, 1120 S.
