Franklin J. Whittaker BRISTOL - Franklin J. Whittaker, 74, a barber for 54 years and correctional officer at the rank of sergeant for more than 20 years, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, in Tallahassee. The service will be at 10 a.m. EDT Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bristol. Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. EDT today at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (850-674-2266).Mr. Whittaker was born in Amsterdam, Ga., and had lived in Liberty County, Fla., since 1936. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Whittaker of Bristol; two sons, Stanley F. Whittaker of Bristol and Steve Whittaker of Dansville, N.Y.; one stepson, Bobby Peddie of Havana; two stepdaughters, Linda Duggar and Cheryl T. Neel, both of Bristol; a brother, Herbert Whittaker of Bristol; two sisters, Josephine Preacher and Jennifer Nolan, both of Bristol; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
