Frank N. Stevens 1917-2012 SPRINGFIELD - Frank N. Stevens, 95, of 48 Wrenwood Lane Agawam, formerly of 133 Russell St., Springfield, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Northampton on July 23, 1917, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Walajtes) Stevens. Raised in Chicopee, Frank graduated from Chicopee High School in 1935 and was a 1941 graduate of Wentworth Institute of Boston. He married his wife, Kathleen M. (Sheehan) Stevens, on September 13, 1941, who predeceased him in 2011 after 70 years of marriage. He moved to Holyoke and was an electronic technician first class in the navy during WWII and later worked at Holyoke Water Power. Frank moved to Springfield and was the superintendent of the West Springfield generating station at Western Mass Electric Company, retiring in 1983. Frank was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church in E. Springfield and a member of its men's club. Frank was a member of the West Springfield/Agawam Lodge 2174 of Elks, the Knights of Columbus West Springfield Lodge 2212, and the Agawam Senior Center. He was also a past member of the YMCA and the Adriatic Club of Springfield and the Tiger's Athletic Club of Chicopee. Frank enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center and at the K of C, and also loved to travel and went on many cruises. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his son Frank N. Stevens, Jr. in 2006 and his sister Martha Phelps. Frank leaves two daughters; Kathryn Patterson and her husband Jack of Agawam and Betty Stagnaro and her husband Frank of Agawam; a daughter-in-law Sandra Stevens of Holyoke; 9 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, Thursday, November 8th, at 9am with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, East Springfield, at 10am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Holyoke. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday 4-7pm.
