Frances Teresa Stock August 12, 1926 - June 11, 2015 Died peacefully in the company of her loved ones at Elizabeth Bruyère Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, of cancer. Born in Ottawa, youngest child of Thomas Stock and his wife Edith Andrews, she always went by her second name, Teresa. Educated at Notre Dame Convent School and at the University of Ottawa, from which she earned her degree in Mathematics in 1945, Teresa made her career as a data analyst and computer programmer at the Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories and at the National Research Council in Ottawa. After her retirement in 1990 she worked for many years as a hospital volunteer in palliative care. Her sharp mind, fun-loving spirit and kind heart were legendary. Teresa was predeceased by her parents and by her sisters Gertrude (C.N.D.), Mary (diplomatic service of Canada), and Joan (University of Ottawa School of Nursing). She is mourned by her surviving sister Kathleen (Kay, widow of the late Les Reiley) of Syracuse, NY, and their surviving children, Barbara, Tom, Tim, Bill and nurse Teresa Reiley. Mourned also by her brother John Andrews Stock (the late Betty Nance Exworthy Kirkwood) of Mississauga, Ontario, and their surviving children Francis Kirkwood (Kirsten), Susan Stock Loblaw, Teresa Ann Stock, John Thomas Stock (Lin) and several grandchildren, with whom she spent many a happy family Christmas; and by her brother William (Bill) Stock (the late Frances Willsher) of Ottawa, and their surviving children Gerald (Cheryll Timleck), Carolyn, and Sandy (Lorna Beresford) and grandchildren. Mourned too by her numerous Stock, Fotheringham and Kirkwood cousins, especially by her good companions Frank Stock and his partner Leonard Bonavero of Victoria, BC. Teresa also leaves behind a host of lifelong Ottawa friends and people whom she has helped. Special thanks to those who cared for Teresa during her long final illness, especially her dear younger friend Matilde (Piki) Hahn and Piki's sister and parents, and to all the friends and family who visited her daily and shared news of her online. Burial was on June 12, 2015, at Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa. Memorial Eucharist on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, 95 Somerset Street West, Ottawa, at 11 a.m., with reception afterwards at the home of Catherine MacGregor, 28 Granville Avenue, Ottawa.
