FLORENCE MARY GAGNE - WINOOSKI - Florence Mary Gagne, 96, a longtime resident of Winooski, died peacefully with her loving daughter, Claire, by her side in Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester, on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Florence was born in Winooski on Jan. 24, 1916, the daughter of Eugene and Clorida (Granger) Barber, and was educated in Winooski. She was married in May 1941, to Gabriel Gagne who predeceased her in 1955. Florence was employed for many years at the American Woolen Mill, Forest Hills Factory Outlet, and the University of Vermont, from where she retired. She was a member of R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and the Daughters of Isabella. Florence is survived by two daughters, Claire Gagne of Willsboro, N.Y., and Gloria Benway and her husband, William, of Ventura, Calif.; two sisters, Yvonne Viens and Theresa Viger; and by many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Florence's family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Green Mountain Nursing Home for their care, kindness and support. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, July 1, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Claremont, N.H. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 3 St. Peter Street, Winooski, VT 05404.
