Evelyn Jean Barrett - SAVANNAH - Evelyn Jean Barrett, 77, of River's Edge Retirement Community went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Barrett was born in Savannah on September 4, 1930 to the late Harry Prince, Sr. and Ida L. Prince. She was pre-deceased by husbands, William F. Barrett, Jr. and Harry W. Pitts; a sister, Dorothy Shelton; and son-in-law, F. Keith Hughes. She was a life long resident of Savannah and enjoyed many happy summers at Tybee Island with friends and family. Mrs. Barrett was a wonderful cook and enjoyed entertaining with her family, especially at Christmas. Hobbies included gardening and taking care of her feathered and fury friends that visited her yard often. Surviving are three daughters, Carol Reed and husband, Denny; Mary Frances Thompson and husband, Greg; Patricia Young and husband, Stephen; two sons, William F. Barrett, III and his wife, Joan; N. Andrew Barrett and wife, Laura; two brothers, Harry Prince, Jr. (Jerri) and John Prince (Jane); two sisters, Becky Brewer (Larry) and Jessie McTier (Danny); six granddaughters, Denise Trull and Husband. Michael, Lindsay Thompson, Lauren Thompson, Ashley Barrett, Hillary Hughes, and Emily Hughes; five grandsons, Lance Wilson, William Barrett IV, Andrew Barrett II, Alex Barrett, and Wesley Young; and two great-grandsons, Adam Trull and Stephen Trull. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 pm on Friday May 9, at the Fairhaven Funeral Home in Garden City, GA. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 10 at 3:00 pm at the Fairhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial immediately following at Hillcrest Abbey West. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Savannah or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the Staff at Hospice of Savannah for their wonderful care and support.
