LARSEN , Esther (nee Nielsen) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Esther Larsen on October 18, 2009. Esther was born in Mariager, Denmark on January 10, 1927. She married Kurt in 1946 and followed him to Canada in February 1958 with seven children at her side. They settled on a farm near Chancellor and had three more children. After retiring they moved to Strathmore in 1999. She was quiet, hard-working, a great cook, loved to bake, crochet and play cards. Esther loved being a wife and mother and considered it to be an honour to be Canadian. She was loved, admired and respected by all her children, family, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Kurt and son-in-law Gary Larsen. She is survived by her children Anna (Pete), Bodil, Willy (Mary), Preben (Marlene), Peter (Michelle), Bjarne (Irene), Bent (Jocelyne), Alan, Tim (Sheri), and Dale (Colleen). Esther loved her grandchildren Roxanne (Nick), Jason (Samantha), Ryan, Mark (Marcia), Amy (Eric), Collin (Tracy), Kenny, Ashley, Melissa, Jessica, Bryan, Colleen (Cam), Karin (Brent), Bethany, Austin, Brandon, Stephanie, Cash, and Alisha. Her great-grandchildren were her joy - Barbara, Stelios, Nicolaos, Jordan, Raennah, Trent, Jerrette, Sarah, Kieran, and Bradley. "Mom" will be missed deeply by all. She is also loved by numerous relatives in Denmark. A Celebration of Esther's Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Standard Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made directly to the Standard Young At Heart Club (Box 327, Standard, AB, T0J 3G0) or to Strathmore Hospital Continuing Care Unit (200 Brent Boulevard, Strathmore, T1P 1J9).
