BARNWELL, S.C. - Ellen Bush Jenkins, 76, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2008. Ellen was the only child of Mary Foreman Bush and Perry Buckingham Bush. She was the wife of the late William Green Jenkins for 54 years. Ellen was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and an avid Clemson fan. All who knew her were entertained by her wit and charmed by her southern grace. Her roles on the stage of Barnwell's Circle Theatre and her knowledge of the history of Barnwell County are legendary. Her favorite role was that as head librarian of the Barnwell County Library before her retirement in 2005. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and admirers. Ellen was a member of the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church. She was a former member of State Park Supper Club, Cherokee Garden Club, Wildwood Garden Club and The Winton Assembly. She was devoted to her children William Green Jenkins, Jr. (Ann Marie), St. Julien Bush Jenkins (Teresa), Perry Manly Jenkins (Carey), Kimball Jenkins Davis (Michael), and Ellen Dunbar Jenkins, and her ten grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Kline Cemetery, with the Rev. Posey Belcher officiating.
