Elizabeth Rogers October 23, 1921 - December 10, 2007 NORWICH- Elizabeth &quotBetty&quot (Murray)ÊRogers, 86, of 177 Broadway, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Haven Health Care Center of Norwich. She was born October 23, 1921, the daughter of the late Frederick G. and Mary Ann (Enos) Murray.ÊBettyÊwas a life long resident of Norwich.Ê She was a 1939 graduate of Norwich Free Academy. She workedÊfor TVCCA HeadstartÊfor more than 20 yrs.Ê SheÊwas a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Preston, CTÊfor over 50 yrs, where years ago, she taught Sunday school and was a deaconess.Ê She was a member of the Arc of New London County and a member of the Norwich Senior Center, where she loved to socialize withÊher many friends.Ê Most recently, she made her home at Haven Health Care Center of Norwich where sheÊloved toÊwin atÊbingo, and was always working onÊpuzzles.Ê She was proud of being in the resident advocacy group there.ÊShe was extremely friendly, outgoing, kind.Ê She loved to be with people.Ê Her family will all miss her dearly. BettyÊwas predeceased by her two late husbands, Eugene McLendon of Birmingham, AL and Orrin Rogers of Norwichtown, CT, a brother Frederick Murray Jr., sister W. Mildred Watrous, both of Norwich and granddaughter Rhonda Garnsey of Boynton Beach, FL. SheÊis survived by a son, Eugene A. McLendon and wife Kathie of Galveston, TX daughters Patricia Huntley and husband Myron of Kissimmee, FL, BarbaraÊ Lafferty of Kissimmee, FL and Marylou Yeitz and husband Robert, of Colchester CT, grandchildren, Roger McLendon, Angie Brunton, Myron Huntley, Lynn Uterstaedt, Bernard Huntley, Mona Whitley, Heather Olson MillerÊand Amy Olson.Ê She is also survived by her brother, Edward Murray of Hemet, CA, sister Elaine Chase of Moosup, CT and sister in law, Marie Anita Murray of Baltic, CT, by 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews. ÊA funeral service will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Preston on Monday December 17, 2007 at 11am.Ê Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
