Edward P. Callahan, 81, of Centerville passed away peacefully after a short illness on April 11th. He was born in Marlboro, Mass., son of Patrick R. Callahan and Mary (Salmon) Callahan. He spent his formative years in Marlboro where he went on to graduate from Northeastern University. Mr. Callahan was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served with distinction as an honor guard at the peace process. He was decorated for his performance by the Republic of Korea for his support of the peace efforts in cooperation with United Nations personnel. For over forty years, Mr. Callahan worked for the Boston Federal Savings Bank, where he served as both an Executive Vice President and sat on the board of directors. In addition Mr. Callahan served as Director and an executive consultant for the Leader Corporation as well as being elected to the board of directors of Broadway National Bank. Mr. Callahan most enjoyed his role as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he will be greatly missed. Mr. Callahan leaves his wife of 59 years Alice (Colombo) Callahan and his children: Edward Callahan Jr., his wife Lesley, Francis A. Callahan, his wife Patricia, Catherine (Callahan) Hatch, her husband Douglas, Annemarie (Callahan) Sydlar, her husband Dr. George Sydlar. His grandchildren Caitlin; Bridget; Jonathan; Erin; Brooke and Carolyn.
