MORAN, Edward of Belleair, passed away on April 27, 2013, in Clearwater. Born on Sept. 24, 1922 in Brookline, MA, Mr. Moran attended Brookline High School, Boston University and graduated from Holy Cross College, Class of 1949. He was a two-sport division-one college athlete in hockey and baseball and an avid golfer throughout his life. He was a member of the Armed Forces in WWII, proudly serving in the Battle of the Bulge. Professionally, Mr. Moran was an executive in the maritime industry, working at St. Philip Towing, Inc. and later Seabulk Towing, Inc., both in Tampa. He was a member of the Belleair Country Club, Carlouel Yacht Club, and the University Club of Tampa. Mr. Moran, a resident of Belleair since 1959, served as a commissioner from 1978 to 1986 and as Mayor from 1988 to 1993. Son of the late Thomas and Katherine (Lacey) Moran of Brookline, MA; brother of the late Patricia Driscoll of Plymouth, MA and the late Mary Hall of Sebago Lake, ME, he was the loving husband of Betty Moran (Girard); loving father of Shelley Moran and husband, Adam Stock of San Francisco, CA; Wendy Moran of Boston, MA; and Peter Moran and wife, Janet Moran (Thompson) of Monson, MA; and loving grandfather of Trevor, Molly, and Emily Moran, all of Monson, MA. The funeral will take place at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on Thursday, May 2nd, 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Morton Plant Mease Foundation.
