ABRAHAM, EdwardApril 20, 1935 – September 13, 2015Edward Abraham went peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, September 13, 2015. He was born on April 20, 1935 in the German town of Lacha, Poland, to Erich Samuel Abram and Rodina Grams. His father and brother (Richard) died during the war and during their stay in a refugee camp in Germany. Ed immigrated to Edmonton with his mother, baby brother (Erich), and grandmother (Juliana). To support his family he began delivering telegrams for CP Telecommunications at the age of 16. He served in the navy during the Korean War, and returned to CP Telecommunications where he worked repairing teletypes. Ed met Maxine de Kat, on a customer call, and they were married on October 7, 1961. He proudly became a Canadian citizen on August 21, 1962. The family moved to Calgary in 1968, when he was promoted to supervisor, and they purchased the house that he loved and lived in for the rest of his life. Ed''s family and Christian faith were his most important priorities, always a loving husband, father and Opa. He loved camping, annual vacations, cross-country skiing, golf, hiking, music, history books, Christmas, Saturday morning phone calls, and Sunday dinners. Ed is survived by his wife Maxine; three sons, daughters- in-law and grandchildren Alan (Elham, Armaan, Ariana), John (Deborah, Sean, Stephen), and Phillip (Carla, Juliana, Luke). Funeral Services will be held at Foothills Lutheran Church (3104-34 Avenue N.W.) on Monday, Spetmeber 28, 2015 at 11:00 am, with Pastor David Bode presiding.
