EDGAR ALLEN MARTIN "ED" KOUTS, IN Edgar "Ed" Allen Martin, 82, of Kouts passed away Saturday November 1, 2008 at his home. He was born on February 9, 1926 in Hopedale IL to Arthur and Lydia (Egli) Martin. He graduated from Kouts High School and went on to serve in the United States Army, farmed and then became self-employed running his own excavating company. He was involved in the American Legion and the VFW; he enjoyed remodeling old tractors and cars and was on the fair board for 45 years. On June 14th, 1947 he married Alice Swartzell who survives along with three children: Gerald (Jenny) Martin, Sandra Dibkey and Dennis "Bud" (Diane) Martin all of Kouts; two brothers: Harold Martin of Demotte, Vic (Patricia) Martin of Kouts; four sisters: Ellen Rose (Ralph) Mast of Goshen, Lina Dominick of Kouts, Verda (Billy) Proctor of FL., and Marilyn Jean Rogowski of Valparaiso, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; five sisters and one grandson, Dean Dibkey. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday November 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Hopewell Mennonite Church in Kouts with Pastor Chris Birky officiating, burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 e. Indiana Ave, Kouts. KosankeFuneralHome.com
