Avis de décès de Dorothy Wallace


Wallace Arnoldsville Dorothy Wallace, 78, of Arnoldsville, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on May 24, 2011. Born and raised in Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of Walter and Lessie Wallace. She was preceded in death by a brother, Davis Wallace. She graduated from Arnoldsville High in 1950 and remained close friends with many of her classmates throughout her life. After retiring from Sears, she enjoyed spending time with her friends in the Sears Retirement Group. She also worked and retired from The Commercial Bank, in Crawford, where she developed many more friends and took pleasure in travelling with their local group. Known as Mama Dot or Grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her seven grandchildren. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Steven (Eileen) Smith, of Arnoldsville, and Leslie (Randy) Carter, of Winterville; her grandchildren, Kelly (Kevin) Poe, Ashlee (Benjamin) Lawhorn, Anna Carter, and Collin, Bailey, Camille, and Eli Smith; six great-grandchildren, and two nephews. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and comfort provided by the Odyssey hospice team, Debbie, Gerald, Ralph, Pam, Algina, Katrina, and Tracy. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 27, at Corinth Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member, with Brother Richard McFall and Brother Raymond Duncan officiating. Pallbearers will be Bruce Carter, Collin Smith, Kevin Poe, Benjamin Lawhorn, Craig Daniel, and Steve Gomes. The deacons of Corinth Baptist Church will serve as honorary pall bearers. Visitation will be at Lord & Stephens East Funeral Home, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 26. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund at 2040 Belmont Rd., Arnoldsville, GA 30619. The family is at the residence of Leslie Carter, 13 Grove Chapel Church Rd., Winterville.
