JAY, Dorothy Viles (nee Andrews) In Ottawa on Wednesday September 24, 2008. Harry's beloved wife, friend and sustainer for 63 happy years, loving mother of Lincoln (Annalee) of Ottawa, Michael (Donna) of Aylmer, Quebec, Stephen (Joyce) of Mississauga, Ontario and dear Nana of grandchildren Stephanie, Alexandra, Christina (deceased), Victoria, Meredith, Lincoln, Harry and Angela. Dear sister of Verna Carter, Basil Andrews (deceased) and Harry Andrews (deceased). Predeceased by her father, the Reverend Harry Andrews, OBE and mother Florence. Born June 27, 1922 and growing up in Quebec, spending family summers at Rye Beach, New Hampshire and a special visit to England, Dorothy shared in the war effort working in a Montreal munitions factory. Immediately after their marriage in 1945, she supported Harry through law school at McGill University, going on to face the challenges and responsibilities of a mother and foreign-service officer's wife with consummate grace and skill at home and abroad in India, Switzerland on two occasions, Paris, Jamaica and Sweden. She much enjoyed her years at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club, the Bytown Ladies Bridge Club, the Superfluity shop and several winters in retirement with Harry in Destin, Florida. Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial gathering at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., Ottawa, on Tuesday September 30, 2008 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
