Dorothy Jean Barrett Mrs. Dorothy Jean Barrett, 74, of Ft. Pierce, died January 25, 2007 at her home with family. She was attended by Hospice of the Treasure Coast. She was born January 10th, 1933 in New Rochelle, New York and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1985, coming from New City, New York where she was a teacher in Mathematics, Music and English. She attended Lasell Junior College, Auburndale, Mass., and graduated St. Thomas Aquinas Sparkil, New York, with a Bachelors Degree in English, and graduated Iona Graduate School New Rochelle, New York, with a Masters Degree in Secondary Education. She was an Executive Board Member of the Conservative Party in Clarkstown, New York. She was a life member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning local and national awards including the Silver Fawn and Silver Beaver. She was a Swim Instructor for over 40 years. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Richard Barrett; brother, John Mulhere of Marco Island, FL; daughter, Kathleen Nash (husband Rusty) of East Stroudsburg, PA; and sons, Kevin Barrett (wife Kelly) of Lewiston, ME, Ken Barrett (wife, Kathy) of Vero Beach, and Kerry Barrett (wife MaryEllen) of Vero Beach; and 13 grandchildren. Services: Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., Sunday, January 28, at Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A mass will immediately follow the visitation with Deacon Joseph Dimauro of St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
