Dorothy Murphy Hathaway, 78, wife of Richmond W. Hathaway, of Milford, died March 3, 2008, in Milford Hospital. She was born March 14, 1929 in New Britain, daughter of the late Freeman J. and Esther C. Davidson Murphy. She was a secretary at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hartford. She was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milford, including its choir and women's group, the Milford Historical Society and Herb Crafters, and was an avid quilter. In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter, Gwyneth E. Fertman and her husband, Steve, of West Haven; a son, Jeffrey C. Hathaway and his wife, Lisa, of Milford; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Christopher Hathaway; three brothers, Donald Murphy, of Southington, Robert Murphy, of Tennessee, Alan Murphy, of Plainville; and eight sisters, Joyce Doran, of South Carolina, Nancy Falvo, of New Britain, Carol Vrlik, of East Harwich, Mass., Rita Lundeen, of Newington, Maureen Masserang, of Arizona, Janet Barrett, of North Carolina, Kathleen Fichman, of West Hartford, and Susan Millett, of New Britain. She was predeceased by two brothers, Freeman and Richard Murphy; and a sister, Gloria Nostin. A memorial service was held March 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Milford. Burial was private.
